Howden’s turbo fans have long been used as part of the evaporation of black liquor, returning the energy from each stage to the process through mechanical vapor recompression. With over 50 plants across Europe, Americas and Asia using our fans we have developed strong expertise in optimising process efficiency. The ExVel turbo fans used for MVR in these plants are processing mass flows of up to 200,000 kg/h and handling temperatures up to 140°C.
Our steam turbines are also central to energy recovery converting the waste heat produced in pulp and paper manufacturing to electrical power.
Our steam turbines are used extensively with small-scale industrial power settings such as pulp and paper mills.
The Howden range is based on renowned steam turbines brands from Kühnle, Kopp and Kausch (KK&K) and Peter Brotherhood. These turbines have a power output of up to 40MW and can be supplied with different configuration to suit power or also extraction for other steam uses.
